Changing My Screen Name

I've decided to change my screen name to my real name, Jonathan Schwartz.  Mainly, because the surname thing just isn't me.  I prefer it if people know the real me.  Also, I've long since started to feel that a screen that mixed Socrates and Decartes was a little on the presumptious side.

In the past I gave my name out and I was not prepared for people to call me at home about politcs, or even worse call my parents house, which my mother works for the board of elections and is really supposed to stay out of politics.  Anyway if I hope you do well with you new name.

I don't miss JollyBuddah (none / 0)

To each his own, but it was a positive move for me. Since I switched I have realized that a blog alias sometimes carried conotations, perceptions and shadings that colored what I intended to say.

I was occasionally possessed by EvilBuddah, but that was beyond my control.

Now that you mention it though, using my real name has acted as a constraining influence on EvilBuddah. Anonymity has its advantages.

Cool (none / 0)

Glad to meet you Jonathan. Do you prefer Jon? Screen names are cool but we are real people dealing with the real issues of life here. In particular we liberal types to need to make it clear we have no shame in being who we are and standing for what we stand for. We are the largest identifiable voting block in the nation according to the recent Pew Research comprising one fifth of the electorate. They can try to demonize us all they want but there are just too damn many of us.

One fifth of the electorate is not a fringe group.

The largest voting block in the electorate is not a fringe group.

We are the mainstream.

My Name (none / 0)

I have no issues telling people my name... Since it is one of the most popular male names (Michael) year in and out and one of the most common Last names (SMITH)... Just try and find my number ;-) ... That is messed up people called you at your house MODERATE without permission... That is just wrong... I don't care what someone's politics are... that is just plain rude.
