What happened to Bill Bennett?

A weird thing on CNN's post debate coverage. The first comments after Blitzer and Cooper delivered their summary came from Bill Bennett. He reminded us that he had been unhappy with McCain's previous performances, but exuberantly proclaimed McCain the winner of this debate. They went to Paul Begala who gave a less enthusiastic nod to Obama, pointing out that McCain again came across as angry. Then they went to David Gergen who argued for reasons I don't remember that Obama won. The reason I don't remember is that I was distracted by Bennet's rather pronounced head shaking and sarcastic grimacing.

A little later they went to the focus group who proclaimed Obama the winner. Then they reported on the poll data. When the camera panned back and... no Bennett. Cooper was in his seat. No explanation.  I can't find any reference to it in the news or blogs so far.

Did he have an appointment, or is he off sulking?

He was "disappeared".  That's what happens when you disagree with "That One" . . .

Being a professional shill, he was probably heading off to other interviews.

He had to get to Atlantic City (2.00 / 2)

before the high-stakes tables closed

Re: What happened to Bill Bennett? (none / 0)

He saw the results of the polls coming in (CBS poll came out sooner than CNN's for all to see on their laptops) and probably ran out of there in a huff, since his partisan drivel and victory proclamation went up in smoke.  Given the decisive numbers how would he be able to explain his "opinion" being so disconnected from the opinions of viewers?   Right-wingers don't understand the world anymore.  Their righteous crapola works in their echo chamber, and they are convinced that is must work everywhere else, when indeed what they peddle is the exact opposite of what Independents want to see.  That huge strategic blunder to harp on Ayers-ACORN killed any chance for McCain, and people like Bennett are too dense to understand it.

I think I agree.  They are out of touch with the American mainstream of today, still living the Reagan years when their talking points could win the day.  America has changed, for the time being anyway, and conservatives are going to have to find a new place.

Prolly needed a gambling fix, and left half way through for the casino.

He had 50 large on McCain. Couldn't take it.

Your old role is rapidly aging. Please get out of the new one if you can't lend a hand, for the times they are a changing.
